FROM THE WEST

Last month our first degree turned out spectacular. We had 5 candidates to receive their initiation and had an incredible turnout. Thank you to Aaron Carter for the great Pre-Degree meal of Chili. It was the perfect thing as it was a typical COLD February day and that hit the spot perfectly. (and if that didn’t warm you up enough, the Jalapenos would do the trick.) At our last Stated we read the petition for 2 more possible candidates and after investigation, we will be voting on them to receive the degrees. As scheduled, on March 16th, the First Degree for one more candidate may become for 3. Again Brothers, we would appreciate any support you can give. If you would like to participate in the degree, contact either WM Cliff Boon, Chris Sherwood - JW(Sitting in the East for this degree), or John Luke - SW and we will be sure to find a place for you.

As scheduled presently, we are going to have the School of Instructions coming up in April on Wednesday the 28th at Exclesior Lodge, and on Thursday the 29th at James K Polk Lodge. Be sure and mark your calendars and join us there. As always, dinner will be provided and lots of good instruction will be given. Come on out and brush up on the Red work and Black work.

Please let the secretary (Bro Jeff Hightower, PM, PDDGM) know if you know of someone who you would like to receive our Trestle Board. The more folks that know about what is going on in our lodge, the more participation we can have. We had an great turnout last month (33 for our stated) and would like to see a bigger one next month.

New Lodge Website Launched:

“Masonic Lodge #461 has launched its new website [http://www.matthewslodge461.com] this 4th of July weekend, featuring an aggregation of Masonic history, events, a portfolio of past lodge events, news, calendar and a user-generated membership form in addition to its original 2009 officers and content.

Some educational sections will encourage visitors to read a selection of topics (i.e. About Masonry) and offer informational links that might otherwise be lost in the shuffle among the many Masonic websites available in North Carolina.   Web Site System Administrators will facilitate online application submissions for new applicants to join one of our Stated Communication Lodge Meetings.

The redesign comes to the lodge to dramatically redefine our online presence and streamline communications and recognition for our current constituents and incite potential candidates to render an application for new membership.  New features will be shared as our site continues to evolve. We thank Jeff Hightower and Mark Campbell for their leadership and dedication in the development of our new website!"
